The latest free update to The Evil Within 2 allows gamers to re-live the nightmare from a brand new perspective, with the addition of a first-person mode.
Players will come face to face with unimaginable terrors through the eyes of Detective Sebastian Castellanos, a man who thought he’d lost everything, in a desperate race against time to save his daughter Lily. To do so, Sebastian is forced to work with MOBIUS, the mysterious organisation responsible for the destruction of his former life. Worse still, Sebastian will once again have to descend into a nightmarish world of MOBIUS’ design: the disturbing town of Union.
“Union was intended to look like an idyllic small town, USA. But the road to hell is paved with Mobius’ intentions, and something horrible is happening in Union, causing it to tear itself apart. STEM worlds require a Core to exist, and with Lily missing inside of the STEM world, it’s beginning to deteriorate. As her mind falls apart, so does Union.”
―Shinji Mikami
Union is a warped and twisted place, with horrifying creatures roaming the streets, and sadistic villains looking to bend the world to their murderous will. Fresh horrors lurk behind every corner, and in a world where nothing is quite what it seems, players must prepare wisely, or suffer the grisly consequences.
Playing in first-person mode adds a new dimension of fear to The Evil Within 2; with a more restricted field of view, the dread that enemies may be close but out-of-sight is heightened. Seeing the world through Sebastian’s eyes means players should be prepared to get up close and personal in combat, and it’s almost impossible to keep your heart from thumping when trying to stealth your way past a mob of bloodthirsty creatures without alerting them. Wait… did that one just see you?
If you haven’t had a chance to check out The Evil Within 2 and want to try it out before you buy it, you can download the Free Trail and play through the opening chapters of the game. All save data will carry over if you choose to upgrade to the full game. The new first-person mode is also available to try out in the Free Trial.
Whether you’re about to replay the game for kicks, attempting the brutal “Classic mode” or playing the game for the first time, exploring Union in first-person makes the world feel even bigger, even more terrifying, and offers players a closer look than ever before at the artfully designed environments and monsters of The Evil Within 2.
The update for The Evil Within 2 is available to download, for free, now.
