30 incredible new trailers that debuted at Paris Games Week 2017

What a show! We hope you enjoyed our suite of announcements and updates from Paris Games Week, but just as E3 was only half the story, the announcements made on stage don’t cover the breadth of everything happening here in France.

We’ve collected every major announcement in this post, but we’ve also included a bevy of other new updates from devs across the industry — read on for your closest look yet at what’s coming to a PlayStation near you.

1. Apex Construct

Developer: Fast Travel Games
PS VR

“We have just announced our first game for PS VR: Apex Construct, an action/adventure title built from the ground up for VR that we believe will raise the bar when it comes to extensive and engaging VR gaming experiences.

“It takes place in a shattered but beautiful post-apocalyptic future filled with merciless robots, where two powerful AIs are locked in a drawn-out conflict. As the last remaining human, you’ll explore this world and use your wits and combat skills to survive, while discovering why almost all organic life has become extinct.

“Apex Construct is played in first-person. You’ll control both hands using your PS Move controllers: You can pick things up, move around freely in the world via seamless teleportation, fight using your upgradable bow and block incoming attacks with your shield while throwing a grenade.

“The world contains secrets to uncover, which let you level up your equipment in your homebase. From there, you can replay any mission to find secrets you might have missed the first time. Exploration is a big part of Apex Construct, and we’ve tried to create a deep and mysterious world that you want to stay in and marvel at all the hidden details.” — Read the full post

2. Blood & Truth

Developer: SIE London Studio
PS VR

“The capabilities of PS VR have allowed us to put you into the shoes of an action hero in a way you won’t have experienced before. From the moment you slip on the headset, you become Ryan Marks, an elite Special Forces soldier who is on a dangerous mission to save his family from a ruthless criminal overlord. Playing as Ryan, you will come face to face with enemies, uncover secrets and experience the thrill of the chase.

“Our ambition for Blood & Truth means we have spent a lot of time developing touches and moments that bring you into Ryan’s world even more. Movement is hyper realistic and together with its compelling story, you live and breathe the drama as it happens.

“For example, shoot and you will feel vibrations through the Move controllers, reload your gun with both hands as if you are really gripping a weapon and push buttons exactly as you would in real life – the realism makes you feel you are experiencing it yourself.” — Read the full post

  • Stuart Whyte, Director of VR Product Development, SIE London Studio

3. Bow to Blood

Developer: Tribetoy
PS VR

“Take to the skies as captain of a powerful airship in Bow to Blood, and discover a fantastical world of airborne gladiatorial sci-fi, coming in 2018 to PlayStation VR.

“Bow to Blood is the next title from the industry veterans at Tribetoy, where you’ll compete to become champion of the Arena as its inscrutable overseers test you and your fellow challengers with harrowing high-speed races, deadly battles with swarming assault ships, perilous encounters with aerial beasts, mind-bending challenges, and more.

“Featuring a diverse set of AI rivals with their own unique motivations and personalities, you’ll need to keep your wits about you to outplay your opponents, forge alliances… or plot betrayals. Procedurally generated encounters and a rotating cast ensure no two experiences will be the same.

“Armed with powerful cannons, a full complement of crafty unmanned drones, and your trusty pistol for when things get up close and personal, you have what you need to survive. But it will be your skill, your tactics, and how you take command under pressure that will set you apart to become champion of the Arena. Do you have what it takes to bring home the ultimate prize?”

  • Matthew Hoesterey, CEO of Tribetoy

4. Call of Duty: WWII

Developer: Sledgehammer Games
PS4

“Carentan debuted as a Multiplayer map in Call of Duty, and a brand-new version of this fan-favorite is heading to Call of Duty: WWII. Featuring large exteriors with excellent sniper lanes, and interior areas for intense close combat, Carentan is a map that you won’t want to miss.

“Carentan will be available at launch as a Bonus Map for all Season Pass holders, who will also get access to the Call of Duty: WWII DLC Pack, The Resistance, available first on PS4 starting 30th January.” — Read the full post

  • Kevin Kelly, Editorial Manager, Activision

5. Concrete Genie

Developer: Pixelopus
PS4

“Hi there, my name is Dominic Robilliard and I am the Creative Director of a small team at PlayStation called Pixelopus. It’s been a while since my last post — that’s because we’ve been away working hard on our second game: Concrete Genie. It’s an action adventure game about a boy called Ash who discovers he can bring his paintings to life.

“As you might expect, given that our hero is an artist, a lot of the gameplay in Concrete Genie is about having fun with paint. Using DualShock 4’s motion sensor, you can effortlessly create stunning landscapes that come to life and even make your own cast of unique creatures to hang out and play with. Our goal is for anyone to be able to paint in this game. The paint strokes you make on the walls will turn into beautiful, living artwork.” — Read the full post

  • Dominic Robilliard, Creative Director, Pixelopus

6. Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris

Developer: Bungie
PS4

“We’re at Paris Games Week to talk about the next destination on your journey. If you saw the livestream, you know that we just revealed ‘Curse of Osiris,’ the first Expansion to Destiny 2. If you missed it, check out the trailer above for the next story we’re telling with your Guardian as the hero.

“‘Curse of Osiris’ sends you back to the stars to solve a new mystery. The Vex are on the march, and our only hope to stop them may lie with Osiris, the notorious heretic and most powerful Warlock in the history of the Last City. On your quest to find him, you’ll meet new characters, explore new places, tackle new challenges, and earn some sweet new loot.” — Read the full post

  • DeeJ, Bungie

7. Detroit: Become Human

Developer: Quantic Dream
PS4

“Detroit is the story of our world in twenty years, a world where androids that look like humans are treated like objects and have no rights. It is the story of three androids’ struggles: Kara escaping to protect a little girl, Markus fighting to be free, and Connor chasing deviants; three stories that may well determine the future of all androids.

“As the player, you will tell these three intertwined stories simultaneously through your actions and decisions. You will be confronted with difficult choices, moral dilemmas, and critical decisions that will shape the destiny of your characters and the future of their world.” — Read the full post

  • David Cage, Creative Director, Quantic Dream

8. Eden Tomorrow

Developer: Soulpix
PS VR

“Eden-Tomorrow is a fantastic journey through an unknown world in virtual reality, taking the player on an odyssey full of wonders and horrors.

“The idea for Eden-Tomorrow was born when I tried a VR headset for the very first time in 2014. It was one of these rare moments in life where you feel like ‘that’s it!’. I always dreamed of a medium which beams the player right into the story, right into the action! PlayStation VR gives us the opportunity to take the player out of their daily life and let them dive into a new world.

“It is a new, story-driven sci-fi VR game with easily understandable yet challenging gameplay where the player has to prove their skills both in unravelling mysteries and timing.” — Read the full post

  • Frank Sennholz, CEO, Soulpix

9. Erica

Developer: Flavourworks
PS4

“Erica is an interactive live-action drama, with no 3D graphics at all. That means you are interacting with a film that has no visible pausing, loading, or interruptions so it feels utterly cinematic. It has the pace, flow, and production value of a Hollywood movie. The difference in Erica is that you are an active participant, guiding the namesake protagonist in her journey.

“During the making of Erica, we strove to ensure that anyone would be able to play. With PlayLink, we opened the experience up to touchscreen devices as a controller, making the game even more tactile, allowing you to feel immersed in her story. Erica is all about touching the world – for example, you can delicately wipe a tear from Erica’s cheek, or flip through pages in a book to dig a little deeper into her world.” — Read the full post

  • Jack Attridge, Creative Director, Flavourworks

10. Far Cry 5

Developer: Ubisoft
PS4

“When you’re trying to take down an insidious cult that has gripped a small town in its violent clutches, it’s nice to have a friend along for the ride. That’s why the developers of Far Cry 5 have designed the entire campaign to support co-op play. Whether you’re taking on missions to root out the Project at Eden’s Gate or just cruising the countryside in a pickup while your buddy flies a plane overhead, the vast open world of Montana is more than big enough for the both of you.

“Once you’ve completed the intro section of Far Cry 5, all you need to do is send an invite to someone on your Friends list (who has also completed the FC5 intro) to get your co-op session going. Your friend will spawn into your world seamlessly, and the two of you can get busy liberating Hope County.

“Every mission is playable in co-op, but there are also Challenges and a bevy of other activities you can take on, not to mention simply roaming the open world and causing havoc for the cultists.” — Read the full post

  • Chris Watters, Communications Specialist, Ubisoft

11. Ghost of Tsushima

Developer: Sucker Punch
PS4

“Is there a game that you always wished someone would make, but they never did? Well, that’s what we’ve been doing here at Sucker Punch for the last few years – building the game we’ve wanted for so long to be able to play.

“It’s called Ghost of Tsushima.

“Seriously, how come no one has made a sprawling samurai open-world game yet? Feudal Japan is beautiful; from the swaying bamboo forests to the ornate castles, it’s a place that demands to be explored. Don’t you want to wear a suit of samurai armor? Wouldn’t you like to fire a six-foot-tall samurai long bow? Want to journey across a lush countryside with a katana on your hip? For me, the answer is clearly ‘yes, yes please’.” — Read the full post

  • Nate Fox, Creative Director, Sucker Punch

12. God of War

Developer: Santa Monica Studio
PS4

“When we unveiled a bold, daunting, new direction for God of War at E3 2016, Cory wrote here “Change is an essential part of life. In creative development change is often the explosive spark that transforms good enough into truly memorable.”

“As we sit here in the studio on the cusp of our content lock for the game, I can tell you our team’s souls are downright driven to nail those memorable moments with as much determination as Kratos and Atreus are on their incredible journey.

“There are no Soul Eaters lurking in these halls, though today you may think otherwise with our studio Halloween decorations. This team is making it happen once again through perseverance, passion, and determination.” — Read full post

  • Shannon Studstill, Head of Santa Monica Studio

13. Guacamelee! 2

Developer: Drinkbox Studios
PS4

“We’re super emocionados to finally reveal what we’ve been quietly working on for the last several months. Hint: It’s a sequel to everyone’s favorite Mexican-themed co-op-multiplayer dimension-swapping Metroid-vania beat-em-up platformer. That’s right, it’s Guacamelee! 2!

“The sequel picks up seven years after the original game. Juan Aguacate is living a happy life with his family, when his friend and trainer Uay Chivo discovers a new evil menace that threatens to destroy not only Mexico, but time and space itself! Watch the trailer above.” — Read the full post

  • Graham Smith, Co-Founder & Producer, Drinkbox Studios

14. Invector

Developer: Hello There Games
PS4

“As some of you might remember, it’s been two years since we had the pleasure of announcing the development of this game at Paris Games Week. Since then, we’ve been hard at work and now we’re finally ready for take off.

“Working closely with Avicii gave us access to his awesome music and his creative input regarding the overall experience of the game. This was extra valuable when we explored aspects of playing with friends, and in creating that feeling of partying at a concert with your closest mates.” — Read the full post

  • Oskar Hanska, Hello There Games

  • Yuri Araujo, Community Manager, Capcom

18. Onrush

Developer: Codemasters
PS4

“It’s been too long since there was an awesome, all-out arcade racing game! It’s great that there’s so much choice for those of you who love choosing tyres and tweaking set-ups, but what happened to the love for physics-defying, fast-paced, all-action racing?

“Onrush is a brand new game that celebrates everything you loved about the iconic arcade titles of yesteryear, but in a visually stunning, phenomenally fun and fresh take on what it means to race.

“You don’t get any penalties for hitting competitors in Onrush – you get rewarded! Onrush isn’t just about fighting for the win; it’s about racing with style and flair, earning boost from pulling daring stunts and powering up your RUSH bar by taking huge risks (more on that later).

“Whether you’re performing ridiculously audacious barrel rolls or slamming down from above to takedown a rival, the focus is always on doing something spectacular.” — Read full post

  • Christina McGrath, Senior Community Manager, Codemasters

19. Oure

Developer: Heavy Spectrum
PS4

“We at Heavy Spectrum are so proud to have been able to reveal our deeply personal game Oure to you all in Paris. The game aims to give you a unique, dreamlike experience of freedom as you fly through the clouds as a dragon in an adventure about hope, discovery and independence.

“The game is non-violent and intended to be a contemplative experience with moments of drama and mental challenge, hopefully creating something unique for players who want a break from blockbuster game experiences.

“It has many hidden items, artefacts and upgrades to find; and the dialogue, the world and even the Trophies are designed to be full of metaphors and meanings that should reward players who wish to reflect on the deeper messages we’ve placed into the world.” — Read full post

20. PixelJunk VR Dead Hungry

Developer: Q-Games Ltd.
PS VR

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing Dead Hungry to PlayStation VR this Halloween! These zombies crave not the flesh of the living but delicious fast food served to order! To survive, you’ll need to fend them off with burgers, pizza, fries–and anything else you can pick up!

“Dead Hungry is inspired in both visuals and pace by the classic House of the Dead, and since Q is based in Kyoto, Japan, it was only natural that we took inspiration from our surroundings as well. We hoped to create a VR game that’s nostalgic, hilarious and action-packed, all with the Q-Games touch.”

  • Miguel Sanchez & J. Natsuki Mukai, Q-Games Ltd.

“As we stressed during our E3 2017 unveil, Shadow of the Colossus on PS4 is not a port or remaster. • Louise Chamberlain, Producer, Triangular Pixels

23. Spelunky 2

Developer: Mossmouth
PS4

“Yes, that’s right! I’m happy to announce that Spelunky 2 is in development and coming to PS4! This was a hard secret to keep, as we’ve received quite a few requests for a Spelunky sequel over the years. A sequel has been on my mind, too, but I knew I had to wait for the right time.

“After Spelunky was released, I took a break from game development, got married, and became a dad! During this period, I wrote a book about Spelunky’s development and my design philosophies, but mostly I spent time with my wife and daughter. As my daughter got older and the chaos began to subside, however, thoughts of Spelunky 2 started to take a real shape inside my head.” — Read the full post

  • Derek Yu, Mossmouth

24. Marvel’s Spider-Man

Insomniac Games
PS4

“In the past, we’ve talked a lot about how the best Spider-Man stories happen when Spider-Man and Peter Parker’s worlds collide. So to understand Peter’s world a bit, players will also play as Peter during parts of the game.

“Not only that, Mary Jane has a significant role here too. MJ is a smart, savvy reporter with The Daily Bugle and she’s investigating the suspicious activity happening throughout the city. She won’t be just a bystander either, so yes, players will even play as MJ for key moments.

“MJ, however, isn’t the only intersection between Peter and Spider-Man’s worlds. His own Aunt May is a longtime employee of philanthropist Martin Li at his F.E.A.S.T. shelters. Peter even introduces a young Miles Morales to his aunt as a new shelter volunteer.

“Unfortunately, Peter makes the terrible discovery that May’s employer is secretly Mister Negative (you can see that moment in our E3 2017 Gameplay Demo). Mister Negative and his Inner Demons’ reign of terror on New York City pose the most serious—and personal—threat that our Spider-Man has faced in his eight years of web-swinging and crime fighting.” — Read the full post

  • Bryan Intihar, Creative Director, Insomniac Games

25. Sprint Vector

Developer: Survios
PS VR

“When Survios started developing our first VR experiences, everyone in the VR industry was focused on what you couldn’t do with locomotion: you can’t move smoothly, you can’t go fast, you can’t imitate actual movement without making players sick.

“With our new competitive adrenaline platformer Sprint Vector, we threw all of that away to prove that VR locomotion can handle all that and more. Running at breakneck speeds, climbing skyscraper-height towers, and plunging thousands of feet are just the norm on one of Sprint Vector’s crazy-colorful and complex courses packed with shortcuts, detours, and powerups.

“We’re excited to bring Sprint Vector to PlayStation VR, slated for a Q1 2018 release. We welcome players to rise to Mr. Entertainment’s diabolical challenges and become the newest stars of the hottest television event this side of the cosmos!”

  • James Iliff, CCO and Cofounder of Survios

26. Star Child

Developer: Playful
PS4

“Star Child is a cinematic platforming adventure that follows the journey of Spectra and her companion on an important mission to an alien planet. After becoming stranded, they uncover a hostile, overwhelming force that threatens to destroy everything. At a pivotal, startling moment, Spectra gains the ability to gradually take control of the world around her and fight back.

“With Star Child, we were drawn to the elegant simplicity of the side-scrolling platformer genre, which can convey an incredible amount of narrative through non-traditional means. There’s a subtle power to telling a story through continuously changing environments and cinematic visuals, as well as character animations, especially the way players can move Spectra forward and learn to master their surroundings through gameplay.

“Enhanced by the magic of virtual reality, these elements take on a new dimension as Spectra’s powers grow and she pushes deeper into a strange, immersive world full of dark secrets.” — Read the full post

  • Paul Bettner, CEO & Founder, Playful Corp

27. The Gardens Between

Developer: The Voxel Agents
PS4

“The Gardens Between is a homage to friendship, the kind from our childhoods that felt so impossibly large, when we made bonds that we thought could never be broken.

“Arina and Frendt, the two protagonists, are inseparable friends who shape one another markedly as they grow up. They fall into a mysterious world of beautiful garden islands, where cause and effect are malleable. As you follow them on their journey, a story about friendship, childhood and growing up unfolds.” — Read the full post

  • Matthew Clark, Director, The Voxel Agents

28. The Hong Kong Massacre

Developer: Vreski
PS4

“The Hong Kong Massacre is a fast paced top-down shooter set in the city of Hong Kong. Inspired by Hong Kong action movies, the game let’s the player engage in hard-boiled gunfights around the city in levels ranging from restaurants to building rooftops.

“Our initial goal was to make a simple yet fun game with inspiration from old arcade games with modern visuals. We decided from the start that we would only be two people working on it,me and my brother, with some external help for music and art. Therefore it was important to keep the scope of the game small, while we kept focus on making every aspect of the game as good as possible.” — Read the full post

  • Anders Flodihn, Game Designer, Vreski

29. The Last of Us Part II

Developer: Naughty Dog
PS4

“After nearly a year since our announcement that we’re working on The Last of Us Part II, we’re finally ready to reveal a bit more of the game. Above is an all-new in-game cutscene on the latest iteration of the Naughty Dog engine, running on a PlayStation 4 Pro. Enjoy!

“At its core, The Last of Us is still very much about Ellie and Joel, but for this reveal, we wanted to showcase several new characters that are integral to their next journey.

“We’re sure you have many questions after watching this scene. We’re also pretty sure that we’re going to see all sorts of theories about whom these characters are, where and when this scene takes place, and how all of this fits into Ellie and Joel’s next story. For now we’re keeping mum, but we’re excited to see what y’all make of this piece of the puzzle.” — Read the full post

  • Neil Druckmann, Director, Naughty Dog

10 things you need to know about Destiny 2’s first expansion, Curse of Oisris

Bungie debuted its first Destiny 2 expansion at PlayStation Media Showcase during Paris Games Week. The trailer’s punchy action beats coupled with dialogue filled will ill portent gave a tantalising tease as to what to expect from Curse of Osiris. You can re-watch the trailer below.

We were eager to know more: luckily Bungie didn’t let us wait long.

In the wake of the Showcase, the studio cracked open the doors of its upcoming update just a little more to give us some juicy details as to what we should expect come 5th December when Curse of Osiris releases. Join us on a whistle-stop tour of what we know so far.

1. The trailer’s Vex vs. Warlock cut scene sets the scene for the expansion

TITLE

Bungie’s post-show presentation opened with an extended look at that cinematic which’ll set up the events that lead into Curse of Osiris. A clash between a Fireteam and a Vex army is interrupted by the time-travelling Warlock Osiris, who freezes time mid-battle to more comfortably continue his own, still unknown, mission.

But he’s stopped in his tracks by the Vex, who suddenly and mysteriously reactivate. The last we see is him outnumbered and fighting for his life.

2. Osiris: the most powerful Warlock in history, time-traveller and all-round badass

Called “kind of a badass” by Bungie, Osiris is an exiled Guardian. Although unseen up to now, his notoriety precedes him: he gave name to the original Destiny’s intense Crucible event, Trials of Osiris.

3. You’ll start the expansion trying to find him…

TITLE

Osiris is central to the expansion’s story, but his presence is more felt than seen: at the expansion’s start, he’s missing. Ikora Rey’s charged you with finding out what befell him; solving that mystery will take you to a new destination, Mercury.

4. …but you’ll have to find his Ghost, Sagira, first

TITLE

Bungie explains Osiris’ Ghost, Sagira (voiced by Morena Baccarin), will be “dragging you through space and time” in this new adventure to track down her companion.

Their split was abrupt, as Osiris tossed her through a nearby portal to save her life as the Vex closed in. She took a hit during the trip though, and the cinematic ends with her shell being gradually buried by the shifting sands on Mercury. It looks like you’ll have to locate and repair her before your journey can really begin.

5. You’ll encounter a familiar face in a new role

TITLE

Brother Vance is stepping away from his Trials of Osiris role for the sequel expansion, and will play your guide during the events of the expansion, leading you to the Infinite Forest to locate Osiris.

6. You’ll fight familiar foes focused on a secret objective

You’ll be battling – and trying to stop – the Vex in this expansion, as Vex from all across time converge on Mercury. Bungie promise a chance to dig into the race’s backstory, as it has a specific purpose for being there. But what that is, you’ll need to find out.

7. The Infinite Forest promises more spectacular sci-fi backdrops

TITLE

Bungie’s proved it can create evocative sci-fi landscapes: the Infinite Forest is just the latest example. Described by the studio as a “simulated reality in the middle of time controlled by the Vex”. The single screenshot that’s used to tease the new locale alone is wallpaper-worthy.

8. A new social space in a familiar area: the Lighthouse

TITLE

Originally only seen by the best Trials of Osiris players, the Lighthouse is now open to all with its Destiny 2 debut. It’s “new and improved” according to Bungie, with plenty of mysteries to discover.

9. It wouldn’t be a Destiny expansion without more Quests, Strikes, Missions…

Curse of Osiris comes packed with content. A new Quest, Missions, Strikes, Adventures and Raid activity will soon make Mercury feel like your new home for the long-term as you start tackling those new milestones.

10. The expansion will usher in Level and Power increases

TITLE

Bumping your head against those XP caps? Come 5th December, you can once again focus on chasing those increases as the Level cap goes up to 25, and Power up to 330. So there’s plenty to crack into come 5th December.

New God of War gameplay video shows how Atreus and Kratos team up in battle

“That’s a Soul Eater. If that kills us, that’s it…no Valhalla…” – Atreus

When we unveiled a bold, daunting, new direction for God of War at E3 2016, Cory wrote here “Change is an essential part of life. In creative development change is often the explosive spark that transforms good enough into truly memorable.”

As we sit here in the studio on the cusp of our content lock for the game, I can tell you our team’s souls are downright driven to nail those memorable moments with as much determination as Kratos and Atreus are on their incredible journey. There are no Soul Eaters lurking in these halls, though today you may think otherwise with our studio Halloween decorations. This team is making it happen once again through perseverance, passion, and determination.

What you just witnessed is a smidgeon, a sliver, of the unflinching, intense, brutal, and often empowering new combat in God of War. Every time I pick up the controller to play, I feel like I have Kratos’ Leviathan Axe in my hand (I avoid using it as a projectile though!), and can hear Atreus’ arrows whizzing by (not to mention his witty motivational banter). The impact of every attack you connect feels like it has a titanic ton of energized force behind it, and the strategic decisions you’ll be forced to make mid-combat are your keys to survival.

Intensity, strategy, and an emotional combat connection between Father and Son is what Cory and all the creative leads want people to feel when seeing this Draugr encounter in the Huldra Mine. When Kratos launches his Axe at a Heavy Draugr to vault him back a step, Atreus comes in with an acrobatic flying double kick, sending him like a ping pong ball right back into a brick wall that is Kratos’ bare fists. That combat moment in the middle of mayhem is a perfect example of how Kratos and Atreus can take down their enemies, together.

Together, with Atreus at your side you have the strongest support next to Kratos’ primary weapon and bare fists you’ve ever experienced in a God of War game. The team worked diligently to ensure Atreus’ actions vary from long range arrow stuns, to enemy strangleholds, to acrobatic tag-team maneuvers that will help Kratos take down any enemy, any size, and any amount.

I’m still barely scratching the surface here on our new combat system that the team has been labouring on tirelessly, and can’t wait to show you more as we head into early 2018.

5 big new PlayStation Store releases you need to check out this week

This week marks the return of Activision’s behemoth FPS franchise with Call of Duty WWII. Relive history through the eyes of a US soldier in Campaign mode, or play heated matches online with your friends.

PlayStation VR also gets two unique genre blends just in time for Halloween! Try out Stifled, a unique sound-based thriller, or PixelJunk VR Dead Hungry, a zombie-filled cooking game!

1. Call of Duty WWII

It’s finally here – the latest instalment of the blockbuster FPS franchise takes you into the heart of World War II. Follow the story of Private Ronald “Red” Daniels from the US First Infantry Division as events unfold across Europe. Land on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and fight your way through iconic battles to defeat the enemy.

2. Stifled

Go blind in Stifled’s sound-based world with PlayStation VR. Enable your mic and discover your environment thanks to echolocation, a sonar-like system that allows you to ‘see’ the world around you for a limited time. But be very careful though – any noise you make might also attract lurking creatures…

3. PixelJunk VR Dead Hungry

What would halt hordes of famished zombies going for your brains? Delicious fast food of course! Cook burgers, fries and other unhealthy grub to satiate the appetite of hundreds of zombies that would otherwise be making lunch of your innards.

  • Why you should play it: The great minds of Q-Games are back with this VR spin-off that is deliciously fast paced, hectic, and full of humour!
  • Releases: 31st October
  • 4. Spintires: MudRunner

Get ready for the ultimate off road experience with Spintires: MudRunner. Take on a variety of challenges aboard 4x4s, trucks and an array of logistic vehicles. Will you be able to withstand the most extreme conditions?

Raid a haunted castle for cash with or against friends in PS VR’s Smash Hit Plunder

Welcome to Smash Hit Plunder, the single and multiplayer PlayStation VR game you’ve been waiting for. Allow us to plunge you and your friends straight into a medieval castle that’s yours to explore – or is it?

Alas, you were supposed to inherit the castle from your loving Grandma – but it’s been locked down by a ghostly spirit who says you owe him money! Apparently your incompetent ancestors accumulated quite a bit of debt…

How to pay him back?!

You need to re-mortgage your castle to get it back! It seems like the only option is to loot your very own new home. Use the immersive VR surroundings to gather as much treasure as you can. Smash items, shake expensive-looking pots, and destroy everything you can see – just do all that you can to get your hands on that loot. The more coins you collect, the more of the castle you can unlock!

But it’s just not that simple – the ghostly inhabitants of the castle don’t always want you there. How can you stop them?

Smash Hit Plunder PGW-01

Luckily, you’re not on your own, because Smash Hit Plunder has cooperative local multiplayer! There are two multiplayer modes that let friends help you out via your TV.

If you fancy some friendly rivalry instead there are two manic versus multiplayer modes where the TV buddies can take on the VR player – who will win the treasure this time?!

So who are we?

Triangular Pixels is an independent micro-studio based in Cornwall, UK- we specialise in virtual reality. You might have heard of our BAFTA-nominated hit Unseen Diplomacy – if you haven’t, go try it!

We love to create multiplayer games that cross the boundary between a player wearing a VR headset and letting friends in the same room get in on the fun too. Smash Hit Plunder is a perfect way to introduce, for example, your Gran to the exciting world of VR – but still allows more experienced VR players to go for those high scores!

Smash Hit Plunder PGW-04

With the help of PlayStation’s Strategic Content team, we’ve been working really hard since 2014 to bring this fun game to as many people and with as many spooky dungeons as possible – it’s been a long journey but who doesn’t want to smash up their very own castle?

So, let’s get plundering!

Interactive live action drama Erica unveiled for PlayLink at Paris Games Week

Hi, I’m Jack Attridge, Creative Director at Flavourworks, a digital entertainment studio based in London. We’ve spent years crafting our first title, and now I’m thrilled to work with the team at PlayStation to unveil Erica.

Erica is an interactive live action drama, with no 3D graphics at all. That means you are interacting with a film that has no visible interruptions so it feels utterly cinematic. It has the pace, flow and production values of a Hollywood movie. The difference in Erica is that you are an active participant, guiding the namesake protagonist in her journey.

During the making of Erica, we strove to ensure that anyone would be able to play. With PlayLink, we opened the experience up to touchscreen devices as a controller, making the game even more tactile, allowing you to feel immersed in her story.

Erica is all about touching the world – for example, you can delicately wipe a tear from Erica’s cheek, or flip through pages in a book to dig a little deeper into her world.

TITLE

Erica is a young woman dealing with a traumatic childhood experience that continues to haunt her into adulthood. An old family friend contacts Erica believing her memories may be key to identifying a killer on the loose. It’s not long before the killer attempts to contact Erica too. Caught between different versions of the truth, you must decide whom to trust and what to believe.

TITLE

The fact that it is live action means that you can look someone right in the eyes and decide whether you believe them. The performances can be so nuanced and the world’s details so intimate that we knew we wanted to tell this story in live action.

All player choices have an impact on the story and in addition, all the physical actions have consequences on how the scene unfolds. Let me give you an example: if you open a door forcefully instead of gently, Erica might attract unwanted attention. In this game, actions are often louder than words.

TITLE

We’ve seen groups of players engage with Erica, and it’s amazing how social the experience can become. The cinematic live action aesthetic draws in new audiences as the story of Erica invites conversation.

It was always our dream to make something not only for seasoned gamers, but also loved by their friends and family who have never played a game. To achieve this, we had to rethink the way we approach design in the tiniest of details, and avoid assuming that players know anything about the conventions of games.

TITLE

That’s all from me today – this is just a glimpse into what Erica has in store… we will have much more to share in the coming months!

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst design director returns with PS VR adventure Apex Construct

Hello, I am Erik Odeldahl, Creative Director at Fast Travel Games. We have just announced our first game for PS VR called Apex Construct, an action adventure built from the ground up for VR that we believe will raise the bar when it comes to extensive and engaging VR gaming experiences.

The game takes place in a shattered but beautiful post-apocalyptic future filled with merciless robots, where two powerful AIs are locked in a drawn-out conflict. As the last remaining human, you get to explore this world, using your wits and combat skills to survive, while uncovering the answers as to why almost all organic life has become extinct.
Apex Construct is played in first-person and you get to control both hands using the PS Move controllers: you can pick things up, move around freely in the world through seamless teleportation, and engage in combat using your upgradable bow and block incoming attacks with your shield while throwing a grenade.

TITLE

During the immense adventure you will be able to add items to your inventory, like key cards needed to access certain paths or items to help you solve puzzles later on. The world also contains secrets to find that let you level up your equipment in your home base. From there, you are also able to replay any mission to find secrets you might have missed the first time.

Exploration is a big part of Apex Construct, and we have really tried to create a deep and mysterious world that you want to stay in and marvel at all the hidden details.

TITLE

The action-based gameplay is something we are especially proud of; the bow mechanics are very similar to real life archery, requiring skill and precision.

Sometimes you’ll face multiple enemies at once and need to move, attack and defend at the same time. You will also find different kind of arrows – some might work better against certain type of enemies, while others can be used to open up secret entrances that’d otherwise be inaccessible.

TITLE

After working as Design Director for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst at DICE, I founded Fast Travel Games in 2016 together with other industry veterans from studios like Rovio and Avalanche. Together, we embarked on a mission: to create qualitative VR games with a true sense of immersion that you want to continue to play for a long time.

We believe we have done exactly this with Apex Construct, a game we have worked on through the ups and downs you have in the creative processes. We’ll be ready to share it with you soon, and the team and I are SO excited to hear what you think!
