Japan has a rich gaming heritage and given the amazing response we had to PlayStation Store’s recent Big in Japan Sale we thought we’d keep the good times rolling here on PlayStation Now. Next week it’s Mountain Day in Japan, the country’s newest national holiday – so we’ve duly obliged with a mountain of PS4 and PS3 games from the Asian powerhouse.
This week we’ve got Sultan in the house, sampling life at PlayStation HQ on a work experience placement. He just so happens to be a connoisseur of Japanese games, so we thought we’d let him recommend a few of his favourites from the list. Take it away Sultan:
1. Gravity Rush Remastered
Kick-starting the list, Gravity Rush brings a truly amazing storyline to the table which always leaves you wanting more. Filled with enticing RPG and platformer elements, this game is definitely a must-have.
2. Croixleur Sigma
Croixleur Sigma throws endless waves of enemies at you in this hack and slash game. With different fighting techniques and abilities to choose from, you’ll find yourself immersed in battle in an attempt to emerge victorious over others. Will you gain the favour of the Queen?
3. Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War
A strategy title which replays the historical conflict between England and France right before your eyes. Align yourself with either side of the war and take control of a range of unit types to defeat the other side. With a heavy focus on strategy, shape your journey across the battlefield and lead your forces to victory. If levelling up and customising your play is your thing, then this one’s for you.
4. Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends
Discover the intense history of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and even alter it with hypothetical scenarios which expand the Dynasty Warrior Universe even more. Unleash your inner warrior!
5. Warriors Orochi 3
This action-packed series hits an all-time high with the much-loved heroes returning to our screens to unite and defeat the greatest threat they’ve ever faced. With the mysterious Kaguya trailing the path forward, can you change the fate of humanity and slay the dreadful Hydra?
6. Samurai Warriors 4
Get ready to sink your teeth right into the delicious gameplay of Samurai Warriors 4 with old favourites making their mark on the battlefield and new-faces appearing in the franchise. Take on huge crowds of enemies at a time and piece together the intriguing storyline behind the Warring States.
