Around the world of PlayStation:
- With the excitement for No Man’s Sky reaching critical mass, Vice.com had a chat with a former NASA consultant and aviation specialist to find out what a person who used to deal with the stars every day thinks of Hello Games’ exploration epic.
- Talented Metal Gear fan Bayu Arafat (AKA Venom Fox) got a little love from the series creator Hideo Kojima, thanks to his rather special “home made” wearable bionic arm, inspired by The Phantom Pain.
- Did you know that Media Molecule’s loveable mascot Sackboy used to be known as… YellowHead? Now you can witness the birth of a gaming icon as the developer retells the tale of how a loveable bag of fluff was stitched into our world.
- Knights and Bikes developer Foam Sword literally takes you behind the scenes of its forthcoming adventure title over at its Kickstarter page. With all the buzz around Netflix TV series Stranger Things, the similarly 80s inspired Knights and Bikes can’t ride onto our PS4s soon enough.
This week’s PlayStation Store ‘leftfield’ pick:
Serving up some marvellous couch co-op is Overcooked on PS4 – sure, it may look like the sort of culinary chaos that happens in PlayStation kitchen during a typical lunch time, but Ghost Town Games’ frantic party title is an absolute hoot. We dare you not to smile while playing. Not yet tried it? Chop chop…
The pick of PlayStation Blog:
- How a 3-person team is creating ambitious PS4 adventure Prey for the Gods
When your inspiration is the likes of Journey and Shadow of the Colossus, you have to sit up and pay attention. - Celebrate Overwatch’s Summer Games from today with Lúcioball
Bouncing, booping and wall-riding – Overwatch gets a little sporty. We approve. - Quantic Dream’s PS2 adventure Fahrenheit hits PS4 on 10th August
Critically acclaimed and mind-warpingly fun, Quantic Dream’s earlier foray into the interactive thriller/film genre is looking rather great on PS4.
And the rest of the headlines:
- Absolute Drift: Zen Edition slides onto PS4 from 16th August
- Strike Vector EX is coming to PS4 on 30th August
- Darkest Dungeon creeps onto PS4 and PS Vita on 27 September
- PlayStation Blog Russia goes live today
- Vibrant puzzler Hue announced for PS4 & PS Vita
- The Fall Part 2: Unbound is coming to PS4 in 2017
- 59 new PS3 games join PlayStation Now this week
- This week’s PlayStation Store discounts
- Watch the top 10 plays from Call Of Duty World League

- Rocket League was the best-selling game on PlayStation Store in July
What we’re currently playing:
Corey: “After falling foul of heat stroke a couple weeks ago, I decided to dip into Organ Trail: Complete Edition on PS Vita to try and reassure my ailing survival skills. The scores on the doors – zombie apocalypse: 5, Brotherson: 0. Sigh.”
Rhys: “In between games of Rainbow Six Siege (yes, still playing it) I’ve just started out with The Banner Saga; it’s visually stunning and the plot keeps drawing me into a chilly Norse world that sometimes feels a strange choice for summertime gaming, but I don’t want to stop.”
Matt: “In preparation for the release of XCOM 2 on PS4, I’ve dusted off the PS3 and have finally got around to trying XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Having watched my entire team wiped out twice already and brought nearly every council member to the brink of national panic, I’ve decided to start over and this time I’ll be building some satellites!”
