“We could be heroes, just for one day,” someone much cooler than all of us once said. Well, now that Overwatch is here, heroes come in many shapes and sizes, and you can spend your entire weekend as a lightning wielding gorilla scientist if you want to! But while you take a break from fighting the good fight, here’s this week’s round-up of all the news from the PlayStation arena…
This week’s biggest new trailers
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine
Equal parts colourfully vibrant and darkly mysterious, Geralt returns to beast-slaying action in this launch trailer for next week’s huge add-on to an already epic adventure.
- Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands
A quite frankly stunning level of detail is emerging from the shadowy world of Ghost Recon Wildlands; check it out here:
- Absolver
Ah, something new and shiny to feast your eyes on. This one comes from a crack team of former Ubisoft developers and looks very exciting indeed.

Around the world of PlayStation
This week, everyone seemed to have an opinion on the best way to play Overwatch – although news didn’t seem to reach the seven kingdoms of Westeros. Away from Blizzard’s new shooter, folks have been getting creative in DOOM, living a treasure hunter’s life for realm, while a familiar face has been popping up again in a few spots online…
- The lure of fortune and glory was clearly too much for the crazy kids over at Freakin Rad, who have brought Uncharted 4 to life in this brilliant live action short film.
- Conan O’Brian stepped into the Overwatch arena alongside Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey for some hilarious Clueless Gamer action. Okay, so they were using some funny looking controllers, but they are Lannisters after all.
- The lucky folks over at IGN have got hands-on with The Last Guardian and learned a little more about Trico and how you’ll interact with him in in this incredible adventure. Read more.
- DOOM’s SnapMap mode gives you the power to recreate hell – and some users have been putting this to excellent use. Our friends over at Games Radar have put together this list of the top 10 maps they’ve found.
This week’s PlayStation Store ‘leftfield’ pick:
So you’ve fallen down a well full of meanies – hey, it happens, right? Our advice is to never leave home without your Gunboots, as we learned this week from the excellent Downwell, available now on PlayStation Store.

What we’re playing:
- Corey: “With Axiom Verge hitting PS Vita recently, I’ve finally got time to play this masterpiece of atmosphere and design. The only thing is, it’s making me crave more Spelunky too, and I’m not sure my heart can take that.”
- Fred: “I finally got my act together and jumped into Uncharted 4. I’m making exceedingly slow progress though, as I have to stop every 30 seconds to pull up Photo Mode. Gosh, it’s pretty.”
- Rhys: “I’ve had an Uncharted 4 week too – my jaw is still on the floor from the market square/jeep chase level. Even though we’d been shown it nearly a year ago at E3, that whole set piece still grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and dragged me through the mud.”
- Matt: “Alienation – finally made it to the end-game raid and hoping to bag my first 12-core legendary weapon (the Platinum will be mine!).”
