One of my favourite television shows is How It’s Made. There’s something hypnotically satisfying about watching an assembly line repeat the same precise actions over and over again, assembling seemingly random components into a recognisable, finished product. In fact, I’m such a fan of assembly lines that we made a puzzle game about building factories called Infinifactory, and it’s coming soon to PS4!
One of the most important things to know about Infinifactory is that it’s not just a puzzle game — it’s an open-ended puzzle game. Unlike a typical puzzle game, where each puzzle has a single solution that you’re trying to uncover, every puzzle in Infinifactory has countless solutions, each with different strengths and weaknesses. This allows you to compete against your friends and the world to build the fastest, smallest and simplest factories possible. You’re not just “solving” a puzzle, you’re inventing your own solution!
Remember what I said earlier about hypnotically satisfying assembly lines? My absolute favourite feature in Infinifactory is its ability to record videos of solutions. With the single push of a button you can record seamlessly looping videos of your cleverest factories and share them with your friends and the world. How’s that for showing off?
When we first released Infinifactory in early 2015, it was as an “early access” game on PC. Over the following six months we refined it heavily based on player feedback, and even added four additional sets of levels, effectively doubling the number of puzzles in the game. It’s gotten the time and attention to turn it into the greatest puzzle game we’ve ever made, and now it’s coming straight to you on PS4!
