PlayStation Music update: Muse & Robin Schulz interviews, playlists, more

Welcome PlayStation Music users! Following our launch at the end of March, we have now been live on PlayStation 3 and 4 for over two months! It seems the PlayStation community are loving creating soundtracks and listening to them as they their favourite games, with millions of hours of music played on PS4 and PS3 so far!

We’d love to hear your feedback below, and in the meantime we’ll continue to work to bring you premium PlayStation content, gamer focused playlists and seamless updates to enjoy the service even more on your console and mobile.

Haven’t tried Spotify on PlayStation yet? Go to the content launcher or the PlayStation Store to download the app for free, then listen without ads with our 1 month premium trial.

This month, we’re bringing you an exclusive interview with the global phenomenon Muse, as we catch up with bassist Chris Wolstenholme on his favourite PlayStation games and the new album, Drones. Fire up your console, and head to the Music section of the PlayStation Store to check it out. Can you guess which game he’s amassed over 700 sessions on?

Robin Schulz 2015

We also had a one-to-one chat with international DJ and producer Robin Schulz as he performed for us at the PlayStation Music stage at the UEFA Champions League final. He also created for us an exclusive “playlist for gamers” for you to get your teeth into.

How would you describe your sound to somebody that hasn’t heard your music before?
I would describe it as deep, melodic house music.

You recently launched your single, Sun Goes Down, with a music video app. Are you interested in new technology innovations?
Yes! I´m very interested in new technology. That was also the reason I wanted to shoot this new video of mine, and I love it. It’s been three hard days filming in very cold New York but I think we did something really cool this time.

What technology can’t you live without?
My phone, laptops and my PS4.

You spend a lot of time travelling the world. How do you entertain yourself when you’re stuck on tour buses and planes? Do you travel with your PS4?
No I don’t travel with it. I would love to but sometimes I don’t even have the time to play in my hotel room. I have a PS Vita though for my travels

What are your favorite types of games to play?
I love a lot of different games. Of course I like all the sports games, but I’m also a big fan of GTA.

What upcoming PS4 releases are you looking forward to the most?
I can’t wait to play The Witcher 3 when I have more time in the next few weeks. I’ve heard great things about it.

What’s your ‘go to’ music track when gaming?
Very different and it depends. I love the soundtrack of GTA and all the different radio channels

Recently we’ve seen the likes of Paul McCartney and Skrillex lend their hand to in-game music: is that something you would be interested in doing?
Yes, of course! I would love to do this.

If you could create the soundtrack to any game, what would it be and why?
I would love to have a track in the radio channel of GTA but of course I would love to do kind of film-music for a computer game. I’ve never had the offer to do this yet, but maybe someone who reads this knows anybody in the gaming world :)

Has there been a track out this year that you would have loved to remix?
Oh there are loads of tracks that I love to remix. Right now there is a track called Feder-Goodbye which I love and for which my friend Hugel made a great remix. However, right now, I am obviously focusing on my new album.

PS4 players regularly use the ‘Share’ button to show-off their achievements to the world – how important has sharing, through sites like YouTube, been to your career?
I come from a generation where Youtube, Soundcloud etc. actually made it possible for me to become successful with my music. Without these sites I just wouldn’t be known.
