Bike racer RIDE comes to PS4

Greetings PlayStation gamers, my name is Irvin Zonca, and I’m the Head of Design at Milestone. I’m here today to tell you about RIDE, a title more experienced riders and simulation fans have been waiting to get their hands on for the last few months.

What is RIDE?

It’s a game that really captures Team Milestone’s passion for the genre, where the bikes themselves are the undisputed protagonists. Right from the start, the aim has been to offer gamers the chance to take part in thrilling races on real-world tracks, where it wouldn’t normally be possible to ride at these speeds. The game features over 100 bike models across four different categories:

  • Superbikes

  • Supersports

  • Naked Bikes

  • Historic Bikes

Developing the game, the team has done their utmost to replicate these bikes in-game down to the last detail. These are real bikes that you all know, models that are available on the market.

Is it possible to customise your rider?

In RIDE you can choose your avatar, male or female, and customise your appearance, such as hair, specifying style and colour, and so on. We have included a vast range of over a hundred clothing accessories. Each one is an accurate reproduction of items available on the market. You can customise the appearance of your RIDE-AVATAR with:

  • Helmets

  • Visors

  • Suits

  • Boots

  • Gloves

  • Jeans

  • Jackets

And what about bikes?

We set about designing upgrade packs for the bikes as well, so that the individual parts could be changed and mounted as required, while staying faithful to the concept that everything available in the game would be available in real life as well.

Customisable parts include:

  • Engine

  • Transmission

  • Brakes

  • Suspension

  • Wheels

The modifications influence performance on the track, and in some cases – such as the exhaust system – the sound of your bike as you roar around the circuit.

How can the player unlock all this goodies?

To maintain that impulsive, spontaneous spirit, and offer a complete game experience, all the clothing accessories and bike parts are available right away, and can be unlocked via a system of in-game Credits. You earn this virtual currency in any online and offline mode.

And what about the most demanding players?

For fans who like to keep everything under their own control, we’ve provided options to comprehensively modify the position of the rider on the bike, and a series of indicators such as lateral and frontal head angle, shoulder position, seat position and inside knee position.

The RIDE launch is almost upon us, and we’re confident you’re going to appreciate the care and attention to detail we’ve put into developing the game. I’m really curious to see what you come up with to share with the community when you activate the RIDE Photo Mode and take snapshots of the adrenaline-fuelled action. If you’ve any questions, feel free to ask and we’ll be active in the comments below!
