WipEout Omega Collection and Sniper Elite 4 are your PlayStation Plus games for August

Blast your way onto the podium in a lightning-fast, futuristic race craft, or work to unseat Axis powers as a covert marksman in World War II Italy as two new blockbuster titles join PS Plus on 6th August.

Let’s take a closer look:

WipEout Omega Collection

Go head to head for first place in a blistering celebration of a true PlayStation icon. Combining WipEout 2048, WipEout HD and the HD Fury expansion, all in one package, Wipeout Omega Collection brings the breakneck speed and combat thrills of the anti-grav racing franchise to PS4.

Race against the clock and other competitors to take home a podium win, unlocking dozens of ships as you progress through 26 tracks. Competition gets fiercer online, with eight players duking it out on high-speed circuits, or alternatively you can go one-on-one with a friend on the couch.

Those looking for the ultimate thrill can experience the entire game, including all modes and tracks, on PlayStation VR.

Sniper Elite 4

Slip behind enemy lines and work to drive out Axis forces from the Italian peninsula. As a covert operative, reconnaissance huge, varied environments and take out enemies before setting up the perfect hit on high-ranking targets in the hunt for the Nazi super weapon that puts all of Europe at risk.

Use a mixture of traps and explosives, hazardous environments, melee takedowns and, of course, your trusty rifle to sow chaos in enemy strongholds. For even greater strategy, team up with a friend online to take down targets in the co-operative campaign mode or enjoy dedicated co-op missions for two to four players and competitive multiplayer modes for up to 12 players.

Both WipEout Omega Collection and Sniper Elite 4 are available to download from PlayStation Store for no extra cost on 6th August.

In the meantime, you still have a few days left to pick up July’s PlayStation Plus titles.

Detroit: Become Human is an intense sci-fi adventure driven by interwoven narratives and branching player choice, while Horizon Chase Turbo is a colourful throwback to the golden age of arcade racing, brought to life with slick stylised visuals and a pulsing synth soundtrack.

Both games will be available to download until 5th August.

Craft, build and explore in puzzle adventure Forager, out today on PS4

Forager is the highly popular and quirky “idle game that you want to actively keep playing.” It’s all about exploring, crafting, gathering and managing resources, finding secrets and building bases out of nothing. In this game, you must buy lands to explore and expand a slowly growing empire.

Forager tells the story of a small character with big goals on its mind. In a way, this is a similar sentiment to my journey through the development of the game. From its initial concept to the final version, which is releasing on PlayStation 4 today, I encountered many obstacles to fulfill my dream.

This adventure / puzzle / resource scavenging hybrid has been in the making for quite some time. It all started seven years ago when I decided to quit college to pursue my love for video game development.

Small steps

The first year was all about learning, practicing, and prototyping on a daily basis. Before Forager, I had come up with a small game called Cinquedea (a platformer about colonizing planets by jumping on them with a cute character) and Impossible Dungeons (a hybrid between tower defense elements and platforming).

Despite my efforts, Cinquedea wasn’t praised by the public as I had hoped, and I decided to give up on it entirely during development. As most of my savings and resources had been allocated to this project, I was starting to run short.

The idea for Impossible Dungeons appeared while playing Risk of Rain with my cousin, thinking about how I would apply my recently acquired knowledge into the existing roguelike to tweak its mechanics and build something new. I set myself a two-week deadline and immediately started working on it.

One last chance

As a lone developer from Argentina, the idea of traveling overseas to make connections and showcase my projects to a larger audience required a sum of money that not many can afford. I had already moved back in with my mother, and asked for a loan to keep myself afloat as I continued working on my games. But it was during the local video game event EVA that I won a chance do so in an unexpected way.

Using the last of my savings to travel to the capital Buenos Aires and stay at my brother’s place, I showcased Impossible Dungeons to the public. To my surprise, many people showed up and enjoyed it, adults and kids alike. That same day, the project led me to win a trip to the international event Casual Connect.

I scheduled meetings with publishers far and wide, yet none seemed interested in the project. My social anxiety only made this more difficult, but I had a trump card I hadn’t considered.

When Forager came to life

Just a couple of weeks before, Forager was conceived during a YoYo Games’ game jam in which it earned second place. During the event, another exhibitor got their hands on it and lost track of time. They only realized it when the acquaintance they were supposed to meet went to find them. “I blame this game for being so addictive!” they said as an excuse.

This person, who happened to be a representative of Humble Bundle, approached me to ask me what I was exhibiting. A similar game to Impossible Dungeons was already in the works with the publisher, but Forager was new, and they were more than interested.

After sealing the deal with my new publisher, all that was left was to keep working on the game. This new journey allowed me to work with contractors, slowly building a team. But I also received support from the ever growing community around the game through Patreon.

The release of Forager on PS4 comes packed with hundreds of items, tools, and secrets to uncover. I have a long roadmap planned, with goals including new enemies, biomes, a hard difficulty, and multiplayer.

My dream project is now available for everyone to play!

GT Sport 1.41’s five new cars revealed ahead of tomorrow’s update

This month’s update includes a selection of new cars including the iconic Honda Civic Type R (EK) loved for its lightweight and compact chassis paired with a lively high revving VTEC engine. In addition, Porsche fans will be able to enjoy driving the first Porsche production car which featured a turbo charged engine in the form of the 911 Turbo (930).

The update will be available for everyone to enjoy tomorrow, 31st July.

New vehicles

In total, five new vehicles will be available:

Honda S800 ’66
Honda Civic Type R (EK) ’98
Jaguar D-type ’54
Mazda Roadster Touring Car
Porsche 911 Turbo (930) ’81

Featured vehicle: Porsche 911 Turbo (930) ’81

The first time that the word ʻTurboʼ appeared in the history of Porsche production models was in 1975. This was when they first started commercial sales of the ʻ911 Turboʼ, which implemented all of the turbocharging technologies they had developed and accumulated through their racing activities.

The front and rear overfenders of the car stuck out like a racing car, and a large rear wing occupied its rear end. The 3L aircooled flat 6 was equipped with a single KKK Turbocharger and produced 256 BHP. This allowed the car to reach a cruising speed of 155.3 mph, an incredible level of speed for a production car of its day.

From 1977, the displacement was increased to 3.3 litres, and an air cooled intercooler was added to raise the power to 295 BHP. Until 1985, models with these engines provided the highest specs in the standard lineup.

This version of the Porsche 911 Turbo was produced up to 1989, and is often referred to as the ʻ930 Turboʼ. The name comes from the type number within Porsche development being 930, and because the pre-production model displayed at the Paris motor show a year before its release was displayed as the ʻ930 Turboʼ.

GT League

5 new rounds have been added to the league including new rounds of the World Hatchback Championship, Nostalgia 1979 and X2019 Competition Endurance Series.

Unlock The Syndicate Collection In Warface Battle Pass: Season 2, out today

You’ve faced down threats from Blackwood, K.I.W.I., and other paramilitary groups hellbent on bringing the world to its knees. Now, a new threat known only as ‘The Syndicate’ has risen from the shadows, and it’s armed to the teeth with weapons the likes of which have never been seen before. In Battle Pass: Season 2, your mission is to retrieve these weapons before they can be used for more nefarious purposes. The world depends on it!

If you’re unfamiliar with the Battle Pass in Warface, it’s a challenge and rewards system which you can work through just by playing the game. You’ll unlock special content as you go, with over 100 levels of rewards available to claim by completing daily and weekly missions, and fighting PvE and PvP battles. The more you play, the more rewards you earn, and you’ll want to earn this season’s gear as quickly as possible!

The first 10 levels of the Battle Pass are available with the trial version, which is available for free after you update Warface to the latest version. If you upgrade to the full Battle Pass, you’ll have access to 100 levels of epic rewards, and you can get additional weapons from item boxes for every new level smashed after you reach level 100 too!

The Syndicate’s weapons and gear are technological marvels, inspired by sci-fi and cyberpunk themes to create a distinctive and striking aesthetic, and boasting unrivalled specs. If you want to stop this organization from turning them against the world, you’re going to have to claim them yourself.

The rewards available with the Battle Pass are some of the very best weapons available in the game, especially chosen for the Syndicate series! If you’re determined enough to hit level 100, the ultimate prize is waiting to be unleashed: the legendary CDX-MC Kraken, the best sniper rifle in Warface. Across the other 99 levels, you can unlock even more amazing weapons and gear, some of which will give you an incredible bonus when worn as a set or equipped together.

Warface is available to download for free from PlayStation Store now. Battle Pass: Season 2 will be activated after your game has been updated to the latest version.

Concrete Genie launches 9th October 2019 on PS4

Hello! Dominic Robilliard, Creative Director of Pixelopus here with very exciting news. I’m happy to announce that Concrete Genie will be available on 9th October 2019 .

To celebrate this occasion, we have a new Concrete Genie trailer to share, which provides some new glimpses of our protagonist Ash on his personal journey to paint his hometown of Denska back to life, as well as the challenges he’ll face along the way.

Later on in the game there is an exciting gameplay twist, which we hinted at in our last trailer, and we show some more of that here. Ash’s magic brush has a few new surprises that are revealed through the course of the story, one of which is ‘Paint Skating’. We hope you like it!

As for our next bit of news – pre-orders begin today!

All of us at Pixelopus want as many people to experience Concrete Genie as possible. We’re thrilled to share our price point – €29.99 for the Standard Edition and €39.99 for the Digital Deluxe.

Your nephew Alex has joined a religious cult deep within the South American jungle. Great. You can try a multitude of play styles and make different choices to unlock each scenario. Will you try to save Alex? Or will you end up joining the cult yourself?

SYREN

Why it should be on your radar:
This PS VR survival horror by Hammerhead VR follows the story of a eugenics-obsessed scientist who conducts horrific experiments to re-create Syrens – and now the experiments have got loose and are hungry for blood. There are two episodes available with different play styles for each: solve puzzles and sneak your way through episode one, then go in guns blazing in episode two.
