The PlayStation weekly round-up

According to former British Prime Minister Harold Wilson ‘a week is a long time in politics’ and it’d be hard to disagree with him this week. However, while Europe has been contemplating the bigger questions we’ve been sticking to what we do best – bringing you the latest PlayStation news.

If you too have exhausted yourself this week pondering the ins and outs of global politics, why not treat yourself to a little break and let us bring you up to speed on what you might have missed in the gaming world.

This week’s biggest new trailers:

  1.  Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End – Lost Treasures DLC
The first add-on bundle for Uncharted 4 is here. Check out the bumper collection of weapons, skins, taunts and features as well the brand new map ‘Sunken Keep’.

  2. Death’s Gambit – Bosses trailer
For those of you who can’t get enough of brutal RPG hack-and-slash, this debut title from White Rabbit needs to be on your watch list.

  3. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – Descent
The explosive new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 latest DLC added yet more imaginative twists to the series much-loved zombie mode: dragons. Don’t believe us? Check it out below.

Tweet of the week

Around the world of PlayStation:

  • It’s a miracle that anyone ever found this incredible easter egg for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Blood and Wine expansion.

  • Geek merchandise specialist Merchoid.com this week announced a Final Fantasy VII themed edition of the classic board game Monopoly.
  • Publishers 2K Games announced the highly-anticipated re-release of smash-hit FPS series, Bioshock: The Collection.

This week’s PlayStation Store ‘leftfield’ pick:

Ever wondered what it’d be like to run a prison facility? How you’d keep 100s of mean-looking inmates from rioting on a daily basis? There’s a good chance it never even crossed your mind, but don’t let that stop you. Prison Architect: PlayStation 4 Edition is one of the most devilishly addictive strategy games to appear on PS4. Complex, tense and challenging it’ll keep any would-be warden on their toes for hours.

The pick of PlayStation Blog:

  • Writer and Director David Cage gives us a more in-depth look at the latest trailer for forth-coming neo-noir thriller Detroit in a special video interview from E3.
  • We’re unleashing our inner Japanophiles this week with a fortnight-long discount on dozens of great Japanese titles like Darks Souls III and MGSV.
  • Developers White Rabbit provided us with an update on their forthcoming action RPG Death’s Gambit – it’s shaping up great!
  • Qualifying is now available for the official Uncharted 4 Multiplayer Tournament – learn more about the event and the big cash prize here.

And the rest of the headlines:

What we’re currently playing:

Rhys is out of the office for a second week running (alright for some!) so it’s just myself, Fred and Corey this week.

Corey: “Towerfall Ascension‘s PS Vita debut has meant I’ve finally had an excuse to dip back into this marvellous game. That and Downwell may have to fight for my gaming love. If only I could combine the two…”

Matt: “It was a mistake I admit it: I polished off The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion and decided to give New Game+ a go. 80 hours later I’m too far in to turn back, I’m thinking about Gwent strategies at my desk, I’ve started reading the novels…”

Fred: “I finally polished off the phenomenal Uncharted 4, releasing the hapless Nathan Drake from his hellish Groundhog Day purgatory of being repeatedly thrown off a cliff in service of Photo Mode lolz.”
