The PlayStation weekly wrap-up

Adventures in strange new lands has been the over-riding theme on PlayStation this week with Geralt of Rivia riding out for bold new adventures in the Duchy of Toussaint and the open beta for Q-Games’ The Tomorrow Children launching on Friday.

This week’s biggest new trailers

  1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine
CD Projekt Red dialled in some sweet metal riffs from Bring Me The Horizon and a host of grisly new beasts to get us amped up for the final expansion of their critically-acclaimed RPG.

  2. Hitman Episode 3 – “Marrakech” Reveal Trailer
Get your first glimpse of the sun-kissed Moroccan city of Marrakech as Agent 47 deploys for HITMAN‘s third episode.

  3. Dragon Quest Builders – Announce Trailer
The world of Dragon Quest gets decidedly crafty in the announce trailer for Dragon Quest Builders – due to land on PlayStation 4 this October.

Tweets of the week:

Around the world of PlayStation:

  • What happens when you let an award-winning wedding photographer loose with Uncharted 4‘s photo mode? Well, we’ll let the results speak for themselves, but be warned, there’s major spoilers throughout!
  • Pro e-sports contender Chris Gonzalez took Street Fighter V to the next level when he pumped out a massive 36-hit combo during a live Twitch stream

This week’s PlayStation Store ‘leftfield’ pick:

Heartfelt action-strategy title Valkyria Chronicles was a huge hit with fans and critics alike when it debuted on PS3 back in 2008. Sega have now buffed up the visuals and bundled in all the original add-ons as part of a special Remastered edition exclusive to PS4. If you missed it first time around, or just want to relive the journey, we can’t recommend it highly enough.

The pick of PlayStation Blog:

  1. NBA 2K16, Gone Home and more join the PS Plus monthly games line-up this June – more details.
  2. Get hands-on with Q-Games quirky new adventure title The Tomorrow Children – the beta started yesterday!
  3. Get tooled up with everything you’ll need to know for The Witcher 3‘s big new expansion with this in-depth look from lead designer Matthew Steinke.

And the rest of the headlines:

What we’re currently playing:

  • Fred – “I’ve been repeatedly throwing Drake off a Scottish cliff in Uncharted 4 this week, in an effort to capture the perfect ‘Aaaaarrgghh!’ moment in Photo Mode. Am I doing it wrong?”
  • Matt – “Being that RN-Jesus isn’t smiling favourably on my efforts to bag the Alienation platinum, I’ll be oiling up my silver sword and holidaying in Toussaint for the next few weeks (or more).”
  • Rhys – “The trailer for Blood and Wine seduced me into going back to The Witcher 3 and trying to finish the main story – although shamefully, I’ve had to put it on the easiest setting to stand a chance of making any progress.”
  • Corey – “Remembering that my beloved Aston Villa has been relegated meant Football Manager 2014 on PS Vita has been getting some attention this week. When you’re better than Real Madrid, who needs reality?”

And that’s it – enjoy your weekend and let us know what you’ve been playing in comments section below.
