Need for Speed ‘Showcase’ update goes live on 3rd February

Hey everyone! Great to be back here on PlayStation Blog. I’m excited to tell you all about our latest Need for Speed update, coming 3rd February to PlayStation 4, for free. The Showcase update is all about showing off your creativity and we’ll be giving you a couple of new tools to do just that.

Wrap sharing

We’ve been watching you use the Share button to show off the awesome wrap you’ve made for your ride. But wouldn’t it be great if you could share your creation with the rest of the PlayStation community? Well now you can!

With the new Wrap Sharing tool you’ll be able to not only share your own wraps but download others as well, ensuring your ride will always look awesome as you rock the streets of Ventura Bay.

Snapshot Pro

Building an awesome ride is only part of the fun – the other is showcasing it for the world to see. That’s why we’re introducing Snapshot Pro, a mode which will allow you to create some stunning photos of your favourite car.

Once you enter Snapshot Pro mode you’ll be able to maneuver the camera around the car, apply a number of custom settings such as depth of field, brightness, contrast, vignette, saturation and more.

If you’re short on time then you’ll be able to take advantage of a number of the pre-set filters, allowing you to create an awesome photo very quickly.

Customisation items

At the heart of the Need for Speed experience is the ability to customise your ride. Since we launched last November it’s remained one of the big talking points amongst our community and we’re following in the footsteps of the Legends update where we included 100+ new items by doing the same next week.

In total 11 new cars are getting new items, including the Ford Focus RS, BMW M3 E92, Ford Mustang GT and Nissan Silvia Spec-R.

License plates

Add that extra touch of personalisation with the ability to customise your License Plate. You’ll be able to choose from a selection of backgrounds representing past NFS games including; Redview, Fairhaven, Palmont City, Rockport, Olympic City, Bayview and Tri City Bay. Alongside the backgrounds you’ll also be able to apply a number of frames to complete the look.

New Trophies

Trophy hunters rejoice, we’ve got three new trophies coming your way:

  • Filter Addict – Take a Snapshot with a Filter in Snapshot Pro Mode
  • Wrap Artist – Share a Wrap with the Need for Speed Community
  • Climbing the Ranks – Reach Monthly Rank 10 by completing Daily Challenges

All of these features and more will be coming to PlayStation 4 on 3rd February and will be part of the free Showcase update.

We’ll see you on the streets!
